Mix & Max: Maxdesign at Orgatec 2018
By p4design •
P4 made the journey to Cologne for Orgatec in October last year to take in an array of new products that directly address working behaviours today.
As one of the biggest commercial furniture tradeshows people eagerly wait for, Orgatec 2018 presented a multitude of themes that revolved around the concept of “culture @ work”. Not only has there been a rise in activity-based working and human-centred design approaches, but also a strong focus on workplace wellness, and the relationship between technology and wellbeing.
An authentic Italian brand that is committed to adapting to the ever-evolving commercial landscape, Maxdesign has offered inspiring, versatile solutions to the market for the past 15 years. Maxdesign’s globally desired collection is the result of the company’s ability to practise design sustainably while fabricating timeless and universal forms that have the ability to blend with any interior setting.
After receiving enthusiastic responses for its lightness, practicality and structural profile during Salone de Mobile, Maxdesign again presented Max at Orgatec, a collection of chairs and armchairs by Swiss designer Christoph Jenni. With an underlying focus on adaptability and versatility, Max uses a single shell, consistent in all chairs and armchairs. Adopting a mix-and-match attitude with the added benefit of sustainable production, Max consists of eco-friendly recycled wood and organic polypropylene. This sustainability-driven approach is part of a completely new agenda and a new era for Maxdesign.
Another key feature of the Max chair range is its well-rounded selection of colours and materiality. Understanding the value and impact that colour and material have on furniture selection, Christoph Jenni and Maxdesign worked extensively on creating a timeless palette. The result is a range of chairs that can be easily mixed and matched with a classic range of complementing colours.
A favourite gets an update
Recognisable to Maxdesign, the Appia chair is a true combination of intrinsic structural elements and mechanical precision. A true testament to the term ‘multifaceted’, the updated Appia integrates high-performing materials – such as aluminium – enabling it to be a functional and comfortable chair for indoor or outdoor environments, in private or shared space, and with or without armrests.
In the same regard, Appia Work poses as the essential collection for office environments. With a focus on ergonomics and durability, it not only serves its purpose indoors and outdoors, but also presents as an exemplary solution for workplaces today – and tomorrow.
